The Regional Gymnasium of Akaki is a secondary public school on the west side of the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia. It’s located about 25 kilometers away from the city center. It was founded in 1979-1980 for the needs of Akaki village, but it was housed at the buildings of the primary school until 1987. Since then, it is housed in a new school building and hosts students from eight villages in the area. Today the school hosts 250 students aged 12-15 and 40 teachers, who teach a variety of lessons according to the curriculum of the Ministry of Education. The curriculum is obligatory in all public Gymnasiums. After Gymnasium, students can attend a Lyceum or a Technical School. There are 12 classrooms (A1-A4, B1-B4, C1-C4) at the school and two Computer labs, a Physics lab, a Chemistry lab, a Biology lab, a Foreign Language room, Maths, History, Music and Art rooms. There is also a large indoor sports room, a staff room, a library, offices and a canteen.
